Burda Dress 117A

I made this dress using the pattern from the May 2009 issue of Burda World of Fashion. The pattern is dress 117A. I used an amazing [thick] stretch cotton from Britex in San Francisco. I was heartbroken when they said they wouldn't ever get any more of this fabric.

Mix N Match

I love this post from one of my favorite sewing blogs, B-school Studio. She explains in pretty good detail how she combines patterns and "fly by the seat of her pants-ness" to copy amazing dresses. I love to mix and match patterns...although I've never attempted anything this intricate. Maybe I just will.

Simplicity 2497 - Sort Of

We had a formal dance this weekend, so I decided to make a dress. I used red dupioni silk and I really liked how easy it was to work with.

I used Simplicity pattern 2497 with a few alterations. When making the muslin I felt like the dress ran large and baggy, so I made sure to make a smaller size than I normally would. Also, I really did not like the look of the collar from the original pattern (it seemed a little clown-ish) Instead, using the original collar pattern I cut about 3 inches off each end, then folded it lengthwise and gathered it. Instead of the bodice facing used in the original pattern I made two of the bodice and lined the entire bodice. This allowed me to insert the collar ruffle in between the two layers of bodice.

Mirror Mirror On The Wall

I love this mirrored look from Apartment Therapy.

Homeade Headboard

I love how this turned out from poppies at play. If I were to do it I think I would use a fun linen fabric inside rather than paint.

I really love this little boy room from cluckclucksew:

She shares the tutorial for the crib quilt here and the little boy bed quilt here. I love the garlands.

Now I Know My ABC's

I am obsessed with this alphabet pillow. I'll need to make one like it soon.

Pearls & Bows

Not that I need another hobby to fall in love with...but I have always wanted to get into jewelry making.
This fabulous tutorial from Disney at Ruffles & Stuff seems like a great way to get started.

I'm in love with this tutorial from Dana Made It for a boy's shirt. I L-O-V-E love the argyle version.

Banners

I am absolutely smitten with this banner quilt from twig and clover. I love white quilts and I love banners. What's not to love?

Wreath

I love this wreath made from acorns from MADE. She spray paints it a different color every time she gets the urge. I love spray painting things. Just ask my husband.
I also really love working with felt. So this cute wreath would be a great project for me. I think I'll make it circular though so it could be year round rather than just a February wreath.

Beautiful Blouse

I love this blouse from Anthropologie. I am itching to make a dress inspired by it - but where can I find great fabric like that?

Ipod Touch Case

I have been meaning to make a case for my itouch forever. I was thinking of doing it with felt...but this tutorial using repurposed leather makes much more sense.

Fun For Boys

I want to try this tie tutorial when I find some fabric I love. Finally, something to sew for my little guy.
